Bug Lake and Suzanne Vega

What you ask do these two have to do together? I’ll explain. On Saturday I went up to the Eight Lake area of the Adirondacks to hike back to Bug Lake. The plan originally was to do Bug Lake, Eagles Nest, and Rocky Point. But about a week earlier I had heard Suzanne Vega was going to be playing at Bethel Woods, site of the original Woodstock in April. This got me wondering where else she was playing, and I found she was going to be at the Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton, MA, the same day as these hikes. Since I was already going to be about 1/3 to 1/2 way there, and I had hotel points, I decided to continue on to MA to see her that night. So in the morning, I headed out with SAOAC to Eight Lake and check out Bug Lake. Fairly easy hike, it’s also a snowmobile trail in the winter, so we had to keep our ears aware for any engine noise so we could get off the trail as they came through. After Bug Lake, as the others went on, I headed to Northampton. Got to my hotel, quicly showered/changed, then walked into the center of town to the Iron Horse. This is set up like a dinner theater. According to one waitress, they only have seating for 215. I had standing room only, which meant I was in the back by the bar with about a dozen others. Still it was worth it, so I can cross her off my bucket list. And I recommend this venue if anyone is in the area and wants to catch a show. Click on the picture below for more pictures…
