New Years Day on Bald Mountain

On Wednesday, the first day of the New Year, I went with a couple of people up to Old Forge to hike up Bald (Rondaxe) Mountain. As there was a snowstorm the night before in the area, the parking lot had not been plowed yet, but my Rav4 with snow tires had no problem getting in.

From the lack of tracks, we were the first ones heading up the mountain that day. Which also made getting up some of the short steep areas interesting.

The fresh snowfall though made for some very nice photos.

Soon we came upon the tower

After getting a few pics and a quick New Year toast it was back to the trailhead.
