Sydney

We left Syracuse the morning of Feb 1st for the Buffalo Airport to start our trip. Our first leg, to Washington, DC was on an Embraer EMB-145, but we called it the Embalmer 145 based on it’s small size. From there it was on to Los Angeles, then Sydney, a total time of about 30 hours. but with the time zone difference, it was about 7am on Feb 3rd, so technically about 48 hours. Once in Sydney, we went to our hotel, the Intercontinental, but since it was only 9am, our room was not ready. After leaving our bags with the porters, we walked to the Sydney Tower just a couple blocks away. They take a picture of you on your way up, then sell it to you on the way out. One option is to get it on CD with a bunch of other pictures, so I included those in the second collection below. We grabbed some lunch, went back to the hotel to eat, unpack, and relax/sleep. That evening, we walked down to Circular Quay (pronunced key) to the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. We ended up eating at City Extra, which gave us a nice view of the harbour and the ferries. Later we walked around the Opera House and Opera Bar before heading back to the hotel to pack and get ready to leave.
The next morning, Sunday Feb 4th, Ruth met up with her friend Cassie while I went to the Sydney Harbour Bridge to do a bridge climb. It was fun, but it takes 3 hours because it seems like you walk for 2-5 minutes, then stop for 10 minutes. So by the halfway point, I was ready to leave the group and head down. After the climb, I met up with Ruth at the dock to get checked into the Sapphire Princess. Once that was done, we went and got something to eat in the buffet, then went back to the Opera House for a tour. After that, back to the ship for dinner. We sailed about 9pm that evening for Melbourne.

Some sites I got pictures of but did not visit:
Australian National Maritime Musuem
Kirribilli House
Fort Denison
