Another Bald Mountain winter hike

On Saturday evening, I took over leading a hike up Bald Mountain for someone with the SAOAC group that had come down with a stomach bug. This would be an evening/after dark hike to hopefully see the almost full moon from the summit. We started out while it was still light out.

Getting up some of the steep sections was fun because of the ice and snow on the trail.

Upon reaching the summit, due to cloud cover it was apparent we wouldn’t see much of anything.

Descending though was the most fun. There were two sections that we basically slid down on our butts and hoped not to hit a tree or go over any drop offs. Due to the low/no light though I don’t have any pictures of it. Afterwards we went over the Daikers for food and drinks before heading to back home.
