Work trip involves stay at former Sheraton
On Wednesday, while traveling for work, I realized I had driven by a hotel I had stayed at many times, decades ago, when Dad would take all of us with him on business trips in the area. So on the way back, I had to opportunity to stay there overnight and jumped at the chance. Formerly it was a Sheraton, now it’s a Park Inn by Radisson. Walking in the lobby, it still has a lot of the same looks as it did back then. The former gift shop is now their business center.
Talking with the desk clerk, and sharing some of my memories of the hotel, he upgraded me to a room overlooking the pool.
The waterslide is gone, and I seem to remember the pool was not so angular, more rounded corners. Will have to check the photo albums my parents have to verify. The elevated area used to have a pool table and arcade game, now it’s just extra restaurant seating.
The thing that surprised me most was that the game room was still there. Not as many games now as back 30 years ago though.
Overall, I’m glad I was able to stop, even for one night, and if I’m working in the area, I’ll stay there again.
